Practice researching investments and understand how diversification can reduce risk.

Instructions:

  1. Choose 3 publicly traded companies from 3 different industries (for example: Technology, Healthcare, Consumer Goods, Energy, etc.).

  2. Research each company using a source such as Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, or company investor reports. Review:
Company performance | Revenue or earnings trends | Market position | Recent news or industry conditions

  3. Record your findings in notes, Excel, or a finance app. Explain:
Why you selected each company | What strengths or risks you found | Whether you believe the company has long-term potential

  4. Create a practice portfolio using your 3 selections (no money required). Include:
Company name | Industry | Starting price | Date added

  5. Track your portfolio for 30 days. Note:
Which company performed best or worst | Any major news or market changes | Whether diversification helped reduce risk

  6. Reflect on what you learned. Note:
Did one Your offset matches in another? | Did your research match performance? | What would you change next time?

  7. Share your findings with a peer, mentor, or in the Heka community/forum. Discuss:
What surprised you? | What you learned | What you would do differently next time
